dang studs in bath!!

dang studs in bath!!

hey guys - thanks for the floor framing advice - now i got a new one. I tore out a bit of the wall surface to put in the plumbing for the tub. of course, there's a stud right at 15-16" away from the wall - right in the middle of where I need to run the plumbing for the tub/shower controlls & the shower head

so, i have to notch out the stud, or remove it entirely.

My "worst" notch would be 1-1/4" on a 3-3/4" wide stud. I have to notch it twice, once for the shower head (only about a 1/4" notch required) and then once for the controlls - the 1-1/4" notch.

question: can I notch, or do I have to frame out for this? The wall is NOT load bearing. FWIW.

Install a new stud on either side of where the plumbing will be and then take out the old stud in the way. It will also enabel you to frame out an access door on the opposite side for your plumbing.

as it turned out - the stud wasn't in the way as much as I thought AND my local code allows me to notch some. I did a bit of notching - to get the line through - but not too bad.

Do I have to put an access panel? hope not.
