LVL ridge beam support question

Am building an addition to my ranch house and will be using an engineered LVL ridge beam. The room will have a vaulted ceiling (no ceiling joists). How is the LVL supported at the gable end of the beam? Does it sit directly on a post (stack of nailed-together 2x6s)? If so, wouldn't all the weight of the LVL (and the roof) be resting on just one of the 2x6s? Or is a plate inserted between the LVL and the post?

Thanks for your help - Mike

Lvl Support

You will need to ask your local code enforcement as to what their codes for this is. In different parts of the country the code for this is different. I have done them 3 different ways depending of the code. Good Luck
