This isn't really as hard of a job as you might think. Hopefully you have another bathroom to use while the work is in progress on this one. It is not uncommon to have a bad toilet seal leak and rot the wood around a toilet. Just remove the toilet, and if the rotted wood is localized just near the toilet, you can get away with just cutting out the rotted subfloor and only replacing the section of subfloor that is around the toilet.
