Bathroom floor

Hi,

I would like to prepare the floor for tile installation. The joists are 2x8 16" oc. Bacause of the plumbing sistering will not be my first choice. Underneath is
another bathroom, the ceiling height is not a concern.
Would be OK to add 2x8 perpendicular to the joists ? If so should I use metal brakets to attached the new joists to the old ones ?

Thanks

Not Enough Information

You don't provide enough information to determine if your current floor is strong enough or needs reinforcement before installing tile.

Would need to know the overall spans of the joist and the type lumber from which they are made to comment further.

I used http://www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin/deflecto.pl and I my deflection is L/367. Since I am renovating the lower bathroom I thought this is a right time to prepare the upper floor.

Thanks
