Concrete sub-floor in Living Room - Flooring Options

I had someone suggest stone flooring in the room as since a slab is such a good foundation for stone, but I'm worried about the room becoming tomb-like. Is it possible to install radiant heating below stone? That doesn't seem like the right solution but I'm not sure what to do here.

What are some suggestions to warm the room up? We're planning on installing wood flooring through the rest of the area. Should we consider doing the same over the concrete?
