cutting holes in Engineered Wood Beams and wood joists

Where can I get info on field cut holes thru a 3 1/2 x 12 PSL Beam and thru 2x wood joists.

I want to run electrical conduit but need info on size, placement and number of holes.

I have a couple of cantilever areas that I want to go through and want to do the main run next to the post/beam connection but have read about a minimum distance from a load points.

Thanks,

Download the vendor design & application data from the specific PSL manufacturer for the beam you have. What you are looking for should be in there.

On 2x lumber, I don't remember the specifics and don't have the books with me right now. Maybe someone can correct me on this, but it seems middle 1/3 and middle 1/3 are about right - OK to put holes in middle 1/3 of beam length and, within that area, middle 1/3 of height.
