wood stairs squeaking steps

i was wanted to know is there a way to repair loud squeaking steps if so how do you repair them

It probably depends on how the steps were constructed, and if you can access the steps from underneath. The squeeking could be from nails that are moving, or it could be wood to wood squeeking. Are the steps covered with carpet?

One thing you can try is to glue the stairs from underneath, if that is accessable. Run a bead of sealant (such as PL polyurethane) along every joint. If the steps are carpeted and you don't plan to recarpet, i think that's about the only thing you could do.
