Concrete foundation settling

Don't know if i'm in the right forum, anyway i have some interior slab settling in 1/3 of my house. Had a company out and said i needed 30 peirs installed for about $20,000.00.
Where can i get information on concerns with the lifting, the after effects and so forth. Anyone who has gone thru this experience i would appreciate hearing from.
Thanks

I painted some new town houses about 20 yrs ago and 1 of the middle units had problems with the slab sinking. The engineering company that said the land was stable enough to build on, had to foot the repair bill.

The only interior issues I was aware of [after the piers installed] was minor drywall repairs and 1 corner where the baseboard was now close to 1" too short.

I have no knowledge of any long term effects but wouldn't expect there to have been any.
