LVL beam installation

I have a 30' span beam supported every 10ft by cinder block columns in the basement for a 1 story bungalow.
I want to take one column out to run a 20' clear span in that area.
What I am proposing is to purchase (2) 1 3/4 x 11 7/8 x 20ft. I will laminate /glue and screw these together to make my beam. Will it support my floor above consisting of:
2x8 joists on a 8 1/2 ft span
there are no supporting walls above and therefore no snow load due to the truss roof system. There is actually only a 1/2 wall at one area and another wall was removed to open up the space on the main floor.

One end will bear on the outside poured concrete wall by 3 1/2"
The other end will bear on a steel column

I am assuming there should be a question at the end of your statement like "will this work?". Certainly. Don't forget to support the whole thing while you remove whatever is supporting it presently until you get the LVL installed.
