Yet another Q about bearing walls

If a bearing wall 13' wide has a 48'' openning and the header is a single 2''x8'' suported by jack studs would it be wrong to assume that if another 48'' openning along the wall was created , suported the same way, an identical header 2x8 should be OK?

Yes, provided the load above the wall is identical.

Thanks for reply, the load above is another supporting wall on the second floor seating on a two 2x4 header with 16 CC studs and on top a flat roof

mold all through out the house

I was looking at a house for sale. the house is solid, but their has been water in the crawl space for a couple of months and the heat is off. Their seems to be mold in almost every room in the house. Can you get rid of that much mold, I'm sure we will have to strip the house to the studs, but can the studs be salvaged. I'm totally in the dark when in comes to a house with mold. Is it worth getting involved with it?

I am installing new 2x4 framed walls over adobe brick. The interior blocks have no coating. I plan to use R-13 batting and finish with 1/2" moisture resistant drywall. should I use tar paper on the back of my framing to serve as a moisture/vapor barrier? Or. any other suggestions would be appreciated.:wall:
