Can I This LVL Instead of a Kneewall?

I am adding a room under my carport. There is an existing room under the back half that uses 2x10s for floor joists so that is what I will use. I have approx 18' to span in the long direction and planned to put a knee wall at 9' and splice the joists there. Today as part of a lumber deal I got a 16' long, 16" (I think, could be 18") wide and 1.5" thick LVL. Can I use that to span perpendicular to the joists in the middle and hang them from it? It would be easier than framing out the knee wall.

Not sure if your "deal" LVL, which is 16' long can be stretched to 18' or not. And you may need to use a double LVL anyway. I would.
