Supporting a LVL beam?
I am thinking about installing a LVL beam to span a 10ft opening. On each end of the beam I am going to use a 4x4 post. The floor below is a garage and it already has a beam supported by steel lally colums. Do the 4x4 post have to line up exactly with lally colums below or can the post be 10 or 12 inches off left or right? Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Matt

1. Do the walls line up?(Front to back) Or like in figure #5?: Troubleshooting Guide to Residential ... - Google Books
2. Does the new point load land on the beam below?
3. Or does it land on the wall below, between columns?
Make sure you have enough bearing length, page 2: http://www.parr.com/PDFs/LP%20LVL%201.9E.pdf
