Repair Structural Insulated Panels?
How could a homeowner repair damaged SIP panels? I have an addition made out of SIPs from a previous homeowner. (SIPs are the styrofoam sandwiched between two layers of plywood.)
The panels have water and carpenter ant damage, but I am not sure yet of the extent. I have some ideas... like cutting the exterior plywood and insterting 2x6s for support. This would basically be replacing the SIPS with stick framing from the outside in. Has anyone had this issue?
