16 foot span with load bearing wall above
I am replacing a 16x34 foot flat roof with an upstairs and pitched roof. Each side of the new roof will be about 16 feet. I need to place a load bearing wall about 8 feet in from each end due to a change in pitch. I am considering either manufactured I-beam or open web truss under the walls. Would prefer the open web. Does anyone know what size of beam will be needed under the load bearing walls?

Welcome to the forums! I would enlist the help of an engineer, mainly because I am not sure the structure is rated for a second floor. Not knowing could be catastrophic if it should fail. He/she could advise better the size of the truss/beam necessary for your application. Sorry I couldn't give better info, but better to be safe in a situation like this.
