My header is to short, help.....

Putting in a 12' header to support a load bearing wall with a craw space attic above it. I wanted flush corners so I was going to slide the header into the wall with 2 jack stands on each side to surpport it. My helper nerver allowed for the extra 3inches the header was going into the wall, now I'm 1 1/2 inches short on each side. I only have room now for 1 jack stand on each side to hold this header up. Will 1 jack be enough support or am I going to have to build a new header? Thanks........

If you can't add another king on to each side, and support it with your 2 trimmers on each side because it would make the opening too small, then yes- you need a new header.
