Floor joist 6" too short

I removed a small 3' metal beam used as a window header so that I can pass some vent piping and now need to extend at least 2 - 8" x 13' floor joists about 6 inches or so.

So I ran down to my local HD and bought 2 6x16' joists to sister and had them cut to 13' so they can fit into my truck better and when I got home I thought that I would post this thread to get some ideas on how to connect the existing 2x8 to the new 2x6 floor joists. Can someone post a photo or some sort of detail?

Do I screw them together? Do I bolt them together? Lag bolts every 12?

All assistance is appreciated.

What will support the window where you removed the lintel? If you have to extend 13' joists with 13' lumber, you won't get the additional 3" you need. Do you plan on offsetting the joist sisters? Maybe a few pictures of what you did would help us give better advice.

I closed it up with solid concrete block.
