2nd Floor raised above the first floor wall...how serious is this?

These forums are very very useful and thanks to al guys helping each other !

I just bought a house for my family which is two story in San Jose CA area. After I got the key I called some floor guys to give me the estimate for refinishing the floor (its wood floor) and during their visit they pointed to some issue which neither I could catch earlier not my building inspector.

There is a wall on first floor, which is beneath a room upstairs and that wall passes through almost middle of each that room. Where that wall passes through that room, floor is raised a bit (almost 1,2 degree).

There is no foundation issue in the house and no cracks in the window corners, door corners so I am confused what it is? One of the guys who was at my house for floor estimate mentioned that probably that room are sagging down around a beam on top of 1st floor wall. I have my inspection come again and check that next week but I am worried if I ave bought something which need lot of money to get repair.

Thanks in advance for advises !

"There is a wall on first floor, which is beneath a room upstairs and that wall passes through almost middle of each that room."

That doesn't make any sense. What does "almost middle of each that room" mean?

If you post a few pictures of what you have, it will be easier for us to understand your problem.

A house and it's load bearing supports are extremely important. From what you are describing it sounds like maybe a load bearing wall was removed and now your second floor is sagging/ settling. Without pictures we can't begin to help you as it would only be a guess. Even with pictures it can be difficult.
