Hardwoods under carpet
Hello,
I was hoping for some advice on pulling up carpets to reveal hardwoods. I have pulled up a section of carpet and have found some beautiful hardwoods. I want to rip the carpet out but wanted to know the impact this may have on insulation of the room? It is an upstairs bedroom that we plan to use as a nursery. The room does not have a heating vent but does have a floor grate that draws warm air up from the lower floor. The rest of the upstairs has working vents, for whatever reason this room just doesn't. We live in South Dakota so the winters are going to get cold and I don't want to pull up carpets if it will have a significant impact on keeping the room warm. Any thoughts?

Wood floors are typically a little colder than carpet but I don't think it makes much of an impact on the air temp. Since this is going to be a nursery I'd look into getting more heat into that room.

Seems to me you're going to make this room warmer because you're removing a layer of insulation between it and the heated room below.
That said, the floor will feel colder when you walk on it.
