Framing HVAC Ducting that is right next to a door

I have an issue I was hoping you professionals can help me out with. I am trying to box off the HVAC in my basement and if I do it the conventional way of soffit and ladders I will run into the door way, or be extremely close to it. Is there a better way to do this? or will I have to cut the door down? Picture upload wont work so you'll have to click the link in the bottom to see the image.

Do you have enough room to put a ledger board on the header and sit some ply on that ?

So from the frame header to the ducting, there is a total of 3/4". Not sure if that would work for ledger board.
