Advice on flooring disaster.

I post this as a request for advice on a disaster because that's how I feel about it. I purchased a home where floors were put in quick and sloppy. The laminate flooring I can't seem to find anymore either.

My issue is that on the doorways, the laminate was not put in properly so there were edges cut wrong or whatever. Looking at the photos, how would you suggest I transition from that laminate to a vinyl floor? I had water damage and had to replace subfloor and decided to do something else with the hallway. I don't want to bring that vinyl floor into the rooms so how do I rectify the situation?

Any advice is appreciated.

I'd take a multi-tool and cut it off even [use a guide/fence to keep it straight]

Yea, I'd make a straight cut and cover it with the threshold strip. With a threshold strip the cut doesn't even have to be particularly straight.

What about seeing a different type of flooring in the other room? These cuts are done in strange spots.

I think it's okay to see the wood saddle from the room where you're putting the vinyl, if that's what you're worried about. Better than seeing the vinyl from the room with the wood.

In both cases I would see vinyl coming through. The laminate does not go far enough to make the transition. That's what I'm asking what else I could do in this situation.

If a store bought wood transition strip isn't wide enough to hide the vinyl with the door shut you could custom make one that is.

Sounds good, what material do you suggest?

Any hardwood that can be finished to match or compliment your flooring will work.
