Running 14-2 through corner studs

I need to run some 14-2 wire through a corner stud (4 x 4). How big of a hole should I drill so as to make the bend with the wire? Other suggestions?

Anywhere from 3/4" to 1".

Drill the two holes so that they meet. Push the wire in one hole gently.
Use a flashlight and thin coat hanger bent as a hook to pull it out of the other hole.

Watch for nails and use nail plates if close to the surface.
