Best way to sand stud to prevent splinter on my skin?

I keep getting splinter on my hands when I work with old wood stud. I have a bunch and I wanna sand them all. I don't have a sander or sand paper and I don't wanna buy any. Is there another way to sand them, cheap and fast? I don't care if the wood don't feel smooth, I just don't wanna keep getting splinter. Can I use a brick or a rasp or something.

I assume this is a joke, right?

If not how about a pair of gloves!

It might help if you tell us why you want to sand them - what is their intended use.

I wanna sand the old roof truss because they give my hands splinter when I hold onto them. I'm doing an interior roof project now.

I think Marq's suggestion for wearing gloves is your best bet. Looking at the rafters should show what areas are apt to splinter which would allow you to just concentrate on those areas. Scraping might be a better option.

I can't believe you won't spring for sandpaper but are willing to rub a heavy brick back and forth. Gloves would be the quickest and easiest solution. Or if there is are a few particular areas that you keep getting splinters you can staple some Tyvek, fabric scraps, cardboard or heavy paper over the area so you aren't even touching the wood.
