Fireplace wall - Do I need header?

I'm still building my wall in front of my wall. The wall will be a wall that will hold a 56 inch electric fireplace and it will also carry the weight of the manufactured stone veneer (about 10 lbs per sq ft). The wall will be 8 feet high and about 6 feet wide. This wall is a 2x6 wall.

Do I need a header over my 56 inch fireplace? Or will a 2x6 laying down flat over the top of the fireplace suffice?

Thanks!

Dimensional lumber is not considered structural laying flat, put in a couple 2x6 upright and your more than good!
