Ready to lay flooring, sub-floor uneven in spots...
I'm getting ready to lay vinyl plank flooring, this is a new built and never had flooring on it before. Where my sub-floor meets at the seams some are raised a little, if you put a level across the seams it'll rock a little or if you slide you foot over it you can feel a lip catching your toe. In the kitchen I went over every seam with a planer and got both edges flush, the rock is very unnoticeable now. My flooring has that padding on the bottom but I was wonder just how forgiving is vinyl flooring? Should I continue going through the rest of the house planing each seam or will that padding hide an uneven seam. I don't want the floor to look wavy once it's down...

Your flooring specs will say how flat the subfloor needs to be. Something like +/- 3/16" in 10ft. Can't tell you exactly what yours will say. But it needs to be within the mfg's tolerances. Checking the subfloor and grind down high spots is always advisable. Pretty common when a new house gets rained on during construction.

Tar paper and even shingles are very commonly used to help fill/level the floor. They are stable and do not degrade with time. A combination of planning the floor and fillers will get you to the flatness, not levelness, required.
