I want to tear out a wall that I think may have been from existing house before an addition was added. Not sure how to make the ceiling flow. Any ideas? I don’t think this wall is a supporting wall. T This is the height of the wall and corresponding bedrooms. I want to remove the wall on left side of the photo
Your construction does not look like a typical home.
I'm seeing surface conduit and a corrugated metal ceiling which means poured concrete floors.
Is this a commercial location or possibly not in the States ?
With poured concrete floors..... the walls would not be considered load bearing and should be able to be removed.
I am the process of making a rough in for a non-load bearing wall with a door rough in. Is a 2x4 header sufficient? Or is there a code were I need two make in beefier. Such as (2) 2x4's with a 1/2" plywood sandwiched in between.

This house is off ground so the top and bottom of the porch consists of wood beams. Right now there are temp studs holding the porch up. If I want to use 8x8 posts and then wrap them in hardie, what is the preferred way to secure the posts to the upper and lower beams while also satisfying any building codes? There are a bunch so cost is a factor. I see 8x8 post bases are almost $100 each. Could I simply use a 12" or 16" 12 gauge strap at the top and bottom? Do I need a continuous strap? Thanks.Read More
