Your landing has a rim on top of the top plate which is sufficient for 9 sq ft. If it's easy to double that rim you could do that, but its not necessary. And it only needs an additional stud on the left if there is also a ledger in back like there is in front. Hard to tell from the distant image.

Lookup for best way to install header to support the 2, 2x10 joists, to enable installing a door?
There are 2, 2x4 ceiling trusses, so I think that the wall studs are non support.
I'm thinking that I could install a doubled up 2x4 header. Support it at the 1st stud on the left and attach the right side to the 4th stud on the left with jack studs and joists hangars.
I welcome any suggestions.Read More
I apologize as this may be a silly question. New home to friend has a second floor addition (might be original but hard to tell) with walk out attic. There is a little clearance between the ceiling and the roof. Issue is the bathroom exhaust fan vents to attic. To access, would have to get in attic and crawl about 30 feet on the joists. Any chance that the second floor ceiling could not support a 225 pound man.Read More
