can anyone tell me when square nails where used in funiture making (the years). here is why. i have been lucky enough to be given a small simple washstand type table from my grandparents house. but i was not bright enough to ask my grandma about every piece of funiture in the house before she died. i know my great grandfather was a funiture builder and i am know trying though the remaining family members to findout if maybe he built it. it is very simple top with side turned rails, 4 simpley turned legs and a lower shelf i think may have been added later (still with square nails) as it does not fit tight to the legs. so does anyone know when square nails were last used????? anyway i love it because it was grandma's and i can always picture what sat on it.

I am adding a fireplace to my living room and need to rearrange all of the furniture. The room is 24'long x 13'wide. On one wall, there are 3 windows and a door. The other long wall has a kitchen entrance and a dining room entrance. I need seating for viewing tv. I have a sofa, loveseat, two recliners, curio cabinet, entertainment center. My question is, how can I best arrange the furniture I have in this room?
