Paint removal from hardware
I have some old brass dresser handles that have several layers of paint on them. I would like to remove the paint and restore them to their original luster... and preserve that luster.
Suggestions please :
on ways to remove the paint ( I've got to believe theres some products out there )
once I have the paint removed is there a product I can apply to these brass handles to keep them from tarnishing ?

There are a number of commercial strippers on the market that will do the job. One I use on a regular basis is "Kwik", by Savogran.
Place the hardware in an empy metal bucket and cover with stripper. Allow to soak for 1/2 hour or more. Remove and clean with 000 steel wool.
Many of the 'box' stores sell an aerosol lacquer that is made for metal - it will say so on the can. This is what you need to coat the hardware with after it has been cleaned and dried.
