Dining room table Squeaks!!

I have tightened screws under the table, but no help, the table squeaks even when someone walks near it! The squeaking is driving me crazy, I have a home daycare and there are kids at the table all the time! Making the table squeak at every moment!

bmurphy,

Welcome to the forums.

I'm assuming you tightened the screws to the legs(?)

Squeaking means there's movement between two pieces of wood. If the screws to the legs and/or apron are tight, they shouldn't squeak. The smallest of movements between wood parts can cause noise.

The legs are probably the culprit, and if tightening them doesn't help, try removing them altogether, and rubbing some wax in the joint before reassembling them, and retightening the screws. Johnson's wax (or similar) should work well.

Does the culprit table have the ability to accept leafs? If your shure the screws are tight that may be your only other possible point of movement. Make sure the table is level too!

I use Ivory Soap if I can rub it on the surfaces, or swipe the screws on it
Pledge spray if I can't reach it with a bar of soap
