Desk repair

I have a desk with a keyboard tray that rolls in and out. It is particle board covered with a faux wood covering. I'm not sure what it is made out of, but it is starting to get little chips in it where the mouse moves around over it. I can't put a mouse pad on there becuase i use a laser mouse and it is too reflective. Does anyone have an idea how i can repair this?

thanks,
Charlie

The furniture you describe is not really repairable per say
If you just need it to look nice again, I would cut some shelf paper to the size of the tray and stick that on it

If it needs to be flat again, and the chips are small, the shelf paper should also smooth that out

If the chips are big/deep, you may want to detach the tray from the sliding mech and flip it over
That side might be raw, and also need shelf paper

You can get the paper in many patterns, and may be able to match the furniture reasonably well
Or go with a solid color

It's also self adhesive
