Help to smooth jute fabric chairs
Hi,
I just purchased a set of four wooden chairs with the seat and backrest made with Jute threads...problem is they're really coarse and rough...how do i smoothen the jute so that the fibres don't stick out like on a bad hair day and make them less scratchy while shifting around while sitting. Will varnishing work? I'm a complete novice at this...please help.
Thanks,
Jamie

Natural plant fibers will soften with wear and use. Avoid use of water-based cleaners or water on plant fibers as they will discolor the fibers. Adding a sealer will not soften the fibers and will likely make them brittle and fragile. Perhaps slip covers or cushions would make chairs more comfortable.
