water damage

My dining room table top is made of particle board with a plastic-like faux wood grain top. Over the years the plastic-like top has developed tiny pin point holes that has allowed water to get underneath and cause the particle board to bubble up. Short of replacing the top with glass, do you have any suggestions on how to inexpensively repair this. The rest of the set is in good shape
