The "lyre" slat on one of my Duncan Phyfe style chairs got broken into pieces & I would like to know the best kind of glue to mend it so it would be sturdy again.

Ordinarily, I use Elmers Professional Strength wood glue for this kind of project. The important part of gluing (at least as important as the type of glue) is clamping the pieces tightly together while the glue dries. On a lyre back, this could be a problem. If you have difficulty in figuring out how to accomplish this, drop a line and we'll puzzle over it.
