Can anyone tell me the best woods to use or buy in outdoor furniture ? Is Cypress better than teak ? Where can I find this type of information ?

You can use these types of wood but be sure to protect them with a outdoor weather protector. My favorite wood for outdoor use is redwood. You can stain it or leave it alone.
If you want you can put a protector on it but it is not needed. If you don't do anything to it, it gets a natural grey patina, quite beautiful. Another plus is that it is not susceptiable to rot.

Gini is right about redwood. Another possibility is Cedar. To answer your original question(s) however, between Cypress and Teak, it's really a matter of cost and esthetics. Both woods have been used for centuries (literally) for building bridges - which answers the question of durability outdoors. For comparison of the two I would consult a good encyclopedia.
Of the two, however, cypress is the more durable left untreated.
