Can This Bedframe be Adjusted? Pics inside.
Got a free bed via craigslist. It is supposed to be adjustable from full to queen. The cross supports are easily adjustable, going from 54" to 60" wide, leading me to believe that the frame is indeed adjustable. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to adjust the length. Right now it is 75", I need 80" for my queen boxspring. The side rails are solid; in other words, there is no break in the middle of them with sets of bolt holes or anything of that nature that would make it adjustable. The only areas that look like they could possibly be adjusted are at the ends where the frame bolts into the headboard/footboard. But these ends appear to be attached by rivets or plugs, not bolts. They don't seem to want to come out, and even if they did I don't see how I could get them back in. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any ideas?

You can't put a 10 pound butt in a 5 pound pair of pants. At least it was free and worth every penny of it. It's not going to adjust for length, sorry. The only thing you can do is omit the footboard and let the box springs sit over the frame a little. Our king size does that anyway. You may be able to get some angle iron and retrofit the footboard to exceed the additional 5 inches you need. Or have someone weld a 5" section in the middle of both sides (really about 12" for support and overlap).

Thanks Larry. I just don't understand why the headboard, footboard, and frame will all adjust from full width to queen width (tool-free, to boot) but the length will not. Oh well, gotta love those craigslist sellers. Maybe I'll try to rig it up, but more than likely I'll look for another free bed.

Just on the off chance that anyone comes across this thread with a similar issue, I was indeed able to extend the frame with angle iron. I did it on the foot board end, outside of the legs, so structurally the frame is virtually unaltered (foot board and headboard barely graze the floor, all support comes from the legs). Bed skirt covers it up. $15 solution. Plus everyone got to see my gorgeous refinished floors.
