How can i fix this??

I recently started renting a furnished residence. The couch is either vinyl or some type of leather, it does not smell like leather, but is may be a synthetic blend?? After a couple months i noticed that the couch started forming creases when it was sat on, now the cracking is looking like peeling. There has been a sheet covering the couch the whole time we have been here, so i don't know how this happened...Is there a way I can fix this on my own?

..Hi and welcome. I personally do think this can be repaired by yourself.. I dont think I could either. I dont think that is leather..and with the tear(s),splits and cracking it is likely synthetic - To redo it by those in the trade may not be worth it.. theres a lot involved there with stitching etc..- but that's just my opinion.

Not worth fixing, put the sheet back over it.

Thanks for the info!! My only concern is that I am worried about the owner of the place freaking out and making us buy a new couch. I cannot afford to loose my security deposit..

Was the sofa there when you occupied the apt.? - Save these pics that you took, in case the landlord questions it...How recently did you take occupancy?

When did you first notice this issue..?? - I would probably talk to the owner to let him know what you discovered...!!-

Get the landlord involved right away - don't say anything about this and then move out and you will loose a chunk of your deposit.
