Need Help / Ideas

I want to take an old Wooden Gun Cabinet and turn it into a liquor Cabinet. The issue I have is the side and back are thin. The sides are 1/4 or thinner the back is even thinner than that.

I was going to just put the adjustable shelf clips and brackets. I don't think there will be enough thickness for me to screw in the brackets and have the strength to hold up liquor bottles.

Any Ideas? Ive considered cutting 1/2in board staining and installing those on both sides thus bulking up the strength, but im not sure that will look good. If any one as suggestions I'm open to ideas.

thanks

If you were thinking of putting those strips on the outside, glue them to the inside instead. 1 one each side (toward the front) and 2 placed on the back.

Maybe instead of using shelf standards, you could just drill holes in the 1/2" strips and use shelf pins.

You can locate and drill your holes for mounting the brackets. The push T nuts into the wood from the outside. Then you can use a bolt to attach the brackets.
