Broken Recliner Issue
My recliner has four buttons. Two for the headrest and two for reclining. Once in a while the two for reclining stop working. If I disconnect power from the motor and re-connect power, the two reclining buttons work. Does this mean I need to replace the motor?
Thanks,

It could mean the controls are going bad or maybe have a loose or corroded electrical connection. But, in general I would look at the controls (buttons, wiring connections, control board...) and not the motor for the source of the problem.

Thank you Pilot Dane. The buttons are sewn into the side of the chair, hence they are not that accessible. I think I would have to come up underneath to access the buttons. I did notice that if I disconnect the power to the motor that everything starts working again. It looks like something is freezing.

If something is binding (the motor or the sliding mechanism) then you should hear a hum or buzz while pressing the up or down button.
If you don't hear that, it might be a defective limit switch.
Just checked my recliner, and there are limit switches which keep it from overrunning the stops. If the limit switches or mechanism is failing or even just clogged up with something, that might be the cause.
