Squeaky chair

I have an upholstered swivel/rocking chair that I love (very comfy, though it is also very ugly!)-- but the springs underneath (the ones that attach to the base and make it rock) squeak badly--sounds like it's being tortured. I know I can get the springs replaced, but money's tight just now. Is there any other way to cut down on the squeaking? I tried WD40, but that was only good for about 10 minutes...

Thanks!

A pure silicon spray lubricant, available from most automotive supply houses, should do the trick.
