Sun Faded Finish

I had a Table Runner on my dining room table for one year. Unfortunately there is now a noticeable difference in the finish color between the sun exposed wood and the area covered by the Table Runner. Is this type of damage usually thru-n-thru? I am trying to figure out if I should try to cut back and refinish or strip down to bare wood.

To completely remove the color difference oyu'll have to strip the top down to bare wood, restain, and refinish.

I would suggest a dye as opposed to a stain - they're more colorfast. You might lso look into finish that advertises UV inhibitors.
