I have been given some black lacquer tables from a friend. I want to paint them and possibly wood grain them as they do not currently go with my decor. What can I do to make the paint stick? Also, should I brush paint them or spray paint them? Thanks for any help. Shelley

I've read through posts re teak tables and still have questions regarding a piece I would like to refinish. I have a heavy folding table that I thought was teak, but on close examination I find that it seems to have a laminate of some sort over what I fear is plywood underneath. But I'm not sure. It has water stains and the corners are chewed up in places, but it is a pretty deco-type piece and I would like to make it usable if possible. My questions are: 1. If it's laminated is it possible to refinish? 2. I can't seem to tell if it has lacquer or not (whether or not it's laminated). Can someone tell? (see picture link below) 3. Is this table worth the bother or should I just throw a tablecloth over it?
