Question poly

i have finished hardwood floors for a couple of years. now i work for a remodel company and the boss keeps looking and asking questions to every joe he talks to on the street. he know thinks you can put 4 coats of poly on in one day and not screening the floor before applying a additional coats of poly. has anyone heard of such a method ?

You should screen before every coat because after the first coat it will bring up the hairs in the wood and the other coats you have to rough up the coat alittle bit so it will adhere otherwise it will peel!!!

Depending on drying time(humidity), it will take atleast 24 hrs for oil-base poly to dry before screening/sanding for the next coat.

A water-base poly will dry in a couple hours, but to be sure, I wouldn't do more than two coats in one day.
