refinishing wood table

Stupid me! I spilled nailpolish remover on my beautiful wood dining table from pottery barn. I tried wiping it up, but it was to late. The laquer in the middle of the table has began to clump. What do I do now? Do I need to remove all the laquer off the table top? Does this require sandpaper? Is there a way to do this without using a sander? I would hate to lose the detail in the wood. Could you provide me with step by step instructions on removing the laquer and then restaining? Thank you.

Remove the old finish and stain with a chemical stripper such as Kleen kut, clean the surface as detailed in the directions on the stripper. Apply the stain of your choice, then finish. Deft makes an excellent brushable lacquer, if you want to apply it.

Hope this helps.
