Cure Time - Polyurethane

Cure Time - Polyurethane
Question:
Can anybody tell me how long polyurethane takes to cure? I read that I should wait for the finish to cure before rubbing it out.
Finish Details:
I stained and shellaced a table I built, and am in the process of applying several coats of Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane (oil-based, gloss).
Thanks.

Generally, polyurethanes are NOT rubbed out.
That's the reason they make flat, satin, s-g, and gloss.
anyway, depending on humidity, it could take a few weeks.
but if you've got some tiny air bubbles in the finish, hit it with some 600 grit paper. this can still dull a gloss finish. I always thin my last coat nearly 50/50 with mineral spirits and it eliminates bubbles on the last coat or two.
