Prep for painting over poyurethane

Hi! Just had a question about painting pine moulding that has polyurethane on it. We have a 5 year old house and we decided to leave the pine moulding natural and put polyurethane on it, thinking we could always paint over it later. But it has turned yellow with time and I afraid that if I paint it, the paint won't stick as well as if it was unfinished. Is there a protocol for prepping the surface so that the paint will stick? Thanks
Christina C.

Thumbs up

Sand it all down lightly to remove the sheen from the poly and make sure you wipe all the dust off well.
Prime with an ADHESION Primer like Bin, Bin 1-2-3, BM Fresh Start or SW Anchor Bond..all good adhesion primers TWO COATS...then paint with your favourite semi gloss

Thanks Raine for the instructions on how to paint over polyurethane. I'm going to try it. Christina C.
