repair tufted back chair button

I'm trying to find information on how to replace a button on a tufted back wing-back chair. Should this be a job for a pro? Thanks.

Many times the difference between a professional and laymen is a little knowledge and the right tool. The tool, in this case, is called a tufting needle - relatively inexpensive if you're going to use one on a regular basis, but probably not worth it for a one time job. Check with upholsterers in your area - they may let you borrow one, or they can at least tell you where to buy one. Many craft stores now stock them.
The experience is something you don't need a lot of. Many needles come with instructions, and it's something you can pick up quite easily. If you get a pro to come to your house to do this repair, you're looking at a minimum of $50 - unless he's a really good friend.
