i am refinishing an oak table and pressed back chairs. i have all the paint off but the open grain in the oak still has some paint in it. is there an easy way to remove the paint from the grain?

In a word, no. But you can probably get 99% of it out with acetone and a brass bristle brush. Brass bristles won't cut the wood like steel, or dissolve like synthetic bristles. The acetone (a major component in solvent strippers) will help loosen the paint flecks further while you scrub them out with the brush and wipe them away with a clean dry rag.

Sanding on a porous wood like oak to remove the paint is a waste of time and effort.
