Refinishing oiled walnut cabinets

I have 34 year old walnut kitchen cabinets which have been oiled over the years with Danish Oil. The cabinets are faded in places from the sun, some are water stained and appear to be drying out. What can I do to refinish them to give a new appearance. I do not want to paint them.

If cleaning and reapplication of the oil does not freshen them, you might consider stripping them and starting afresh.

Staining pine interior window frames

During the past couple of months I intalled a house fulll of windows that have clear pine on the inside (sashes, glazing trim, etc.) and my wife wants to staain them. I've heard that pine must be presealed before staining and am wondering if there is a one-step stain available that would cut down on finishing time. Or, does she have to seal the pine and then apply a poly/stain product after?Read More

My husband and I just bought a house built in 1961 which has a significant amount of paneling throughout. Most of it appears to be a wood veneer. My husband would like to stain the paneling in the dining room a dark mahogany for richer look. Is this possible with a wood veneer? What type of prep should be done?
