Want to remove paint stains from wood, but NOT refinish it.

I live in an apartment in an old building that has some nice old doors that managed to go all these years without being painted. They are stained dark and sealed with varnish, I guess. They could be as much as ninety years old. Problem is, the doors accumulated a number of stray (white latex) paint specks, blotches, and smears from the numerous shoddy paint jobs the apartment has received over time. I'd like to remove these without refinishing the doors. Will any paint stripper or thinner products do the job without damaging the varnish?

There is a product called Goof Off that is touted to remove paint splatters from finished woodwork. You can find it online or at local home centers and hardwares.

If goof off doesn't work, try very carefully scraping off the paint splatters. The trick is to remove the unwanted paint and not take the wood finish with it.
