Smile Refinish painted light wood with cherry finish

I'd like to get rid of the old paint on my bed-side tables by using a paint remover and then do a cherry finish. How do I do cherry finish and which materials should I use for that?
Thank you in advance,
Alexa.

Two items of equal importance in getting the look you want:

The type of wood you're staining and the color you want.

If the night stands are made of oak, you can get the cherry color by picking the proper color stain - but you'll never get it to look like cherry wood.

Strip a drawer front and take it to a good name-brand paint store. Let them help you pick the stain you'll need to get where you want to go.
